- About DundeeChest
In 2008 the respiratory department generated the first “MedBlog” (DundeeChest) as a pilot project to assess the utility of a WordPress based platform to deliver learning material. The site went through 3 iterations before being subsumed into the Dundee Medical School MedBlogs program after the creation of various other sites like it by different other departments at Ninewells after positive student feedback. This is cataloged nicely on the following slides: by Natalie Lafferty.
DundeeChest remained a standalone site, able to be accessed by anyone. It contained formative assessment questions, knowledge summaries, as well as information about the Ninewells Hospital Respiratory Department, in Dundee.
Unfortunately, over time the site lost functionality due to updates in WordPress and lack of regular upkeep. This ultimately resulted in a loss of the majority of the information contained on the site.
In 2022, the project of creating a brand new website was reviewed by a panel and accepted as an opportunity for a medical student to be supported in its making through the Dundee Education Vacation Scholarship (EVS) Programme.
This led to the creation of the website you see today: DundeeChest 5.0.
